Jenessa Joffe is a Los Angeles-based Writer, Director, and Creative Producer. She is passionate about comedy as social activism and stories about what unites us all across national, cultural, social, and supernatural lines. Her digital shorts and web series, including Radical Cram School, The Couch of Truth with Amanda Palmer, Kristina Wong’s How To Pick Up Asian Chicks, The Whizz! The All-New, All-White Version of The Wiz!, and Intercourse With A Vampire, have garnered millions of views online, been distributed by Comedy Central, Fusion Comedy, and WhoHaHa, and received positive press coverage from publications such as the Huffington Post, ATTN:, AJ+, The Independent, and Cosmopolitan. Jenessa’s short films, Over The Moon, The Legend of Shizuko Nishimura, Shank, and American Obon have played internationally at film festivals and been distributed by Shorts International. Over The Moon also appears in The Edge of Her Mind, a 2022 feature anthology of short films about women and mental health. In addition to her narrative work, Jenessa created and directed the half-hour, documentary news series, Discover Public Works, for LA Cityview 35, and served as Head of Video Production to Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. She has created engaging content for clients such as Sony Pictures, HarperAudio, Avantus Solar Energy, SoCalGas, Clean Clothes Campaign, CarPro, Clinton Climate Initiative, Vision To Learn, and National Endowment for the Humanities. Jenessa co-wrote the forthcoming children’s book, Auntie Kristina’s Guide To Asian American Activism, Beaming Books, May 2026. Jenessa grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University with a BA in East Asian Studies and holds an MFA in Directing from the American Film Institute.
